What QuillBot is

QuillBot is a broad writing suite, not a single tool. Alongside its paraphraser, it bundles a grammar checker, a summarizer, a citation generator, and a separate AI detector. For a lot of students and professionals it is one subscription that replaces four or five browser tabs, and that breadth is the actual pitch: it is the writing app you keep open all day, not the thing you reach for once before submitting a draft.

Because the paraphraser sits inside that bigger suite, it is built to serve general rewriting (tone, length, word choice) rather than being tuned specifically around what makes a sentence read as machine-written. Its separate AI detector is a classifier that returns a confidence score on a document, the same category of tool as the ones QuillBot users are often trying to avoid triggering.

Where NeverPrompted is built differently

NeverPrompted does one thing: it looks at writing you produced (your own draft, your own email, your own assignment) and helps you reduce the specific patterns that make it read as AI-generated, on the device you are using. Nothing you paste or upload is sent anywhere for this to work; that is not a policy promise, it is how the feature is built, and you can check it yourself by watching your browser’s network activity while you use it.

It also shows you a diff, not a silent rewrite. Every change NeverPrompted proposes is visible against your original sentence before you accept it, because the point is that the writing stays yours: you are approving edits to your own words, not handing a paragraph to a black box and getting back something you didn’t write.

And we say “reduce”, deliberately, not “remove”. NeverPrompted targets the concrete tells that flag writing as AI-generated (stock phrasing, em dashes used as an all-purpose connector, needlessly elevated vocabulary, a rhythm that never varies) and it also checks for a statistical watermark some AI systems embed in their output. Reducing those signals is a real, checkable thing. Promising they are all gone is not something any tool can verify, so we don’t say it.

What neither of us can promise

A separate AI detector, whether it is QuillBot’s or anyone else’s, is a classifier: it was trained to guess between two piles of text, and a guess has a false-positive rate baked in. That is a different question from whether a specific document carries an actual AI provenance watermark, which is a statistical signature some model vendors quietly embed and keep the detection key for.

Nobody outside that vendor holds the key. Not QuillBot, not NeverPrompted, not any tool that checks or rewrites text. So while NeverPrompted can tell you whether it found a watermark it holds the key for, and can help you reduce the surface-level patterns a human reader or a style-based detector would flag, no honest product, including this one, can guarantee that a piece of writing will pass every detector or that an undisclosed vendor’s mark has been defeated. Anyone telling you otherwise is describing a test they haven’t actually run.
